VISION & VALUES

WINNING. BUILDING. SENDING.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus' instructions were clear: we are to make disciples by going, baptizing, and teaching. Our vision at New Beginnings
Lakeside Church is to fulfill this commission, beginning in Evansville and reaching to the ends of the earth. How can we do that?

WINNING

First, by winning people for Christ. This requires us to go – to take the initiative to reach into others' lives for Christ. It also requires us to call people to radical faith in Christ through the preaching of the gospel (Rom. 1:16). This results in a real commitment to Jesus that leads to baptism – a baptism of the Spirit into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13) and a public declaration of faith and obedience to Jesus seen in water baptism (Acts 8:12, Matt. 3:13).

BUILDING

Second, we build people up in Christ. The best way to do this is through the teaching of the Word of God. Verse-by-verse Bible teaching is the foundation of our Sunday morning gatherings. Throughout the week, we break into home groups and Bible studies to talk about how the Scriptures apply to our own lives, to mentor others in their walks with Christ, and to be mentored ourselves.

SENDING

Third, we send. The mission of Jesus is our mission. Once a person has been won for Christ, and built up in Christ, it's time for them to be sent for Christ. Sent into their workplaces, schools, homes, and even into other countries with the message of the gospel. We believe that missional living, both at-home and abroad is vital to the advancement of God's kingdom.

In all of this, we rely upon the power of the Holy Spirit and the presence of Christ who promised, "I will build my church, and the gates of hades will not overcome it."

Our Values

These are the things that shape our culture at New Beginnings Lakeside Church.
For a more in-depth look at each value, watch our Core Values series.

The Word of God

We believe the Bible is the inerrant and inspired word of God. Therefore, we hold to, obey, and preach the truths revealed in Scripture. We believe all of Scripture points to Jesus and the gospel.

Prayer

We know we can't live our lives or fulfill God's mission apart from Him. Prayer is the vehicle that allows us to communicate with our Heavenly Father and reveals our complete dependence upon Him.

Baptism & Communion

Jesus gave us baptism as a way to declare our radical commitment to Him and outwardly demonstrate the inward realities of salvation. In communion, we remember the Gospel, and proclaim His death over us until He comes.

Fellowship

We aren't meant to do life alone. We make it a point to gather together on Sundays and throughout the week to worship God, encourage, and support one another.

Discipleship

We are intent on helping others mature in their walks with God. That's why it's so important to "do life with" people who are further along than you, and also with people you can teach.

Ministry

Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve. We follow his lead in that. God has given each individual in the body of Christ spiritual gifts for the purpose of serving one another and fulfilling their ministry.

Worship

Worship is not only something we do when we sing on Sundays. Worship is a life-style. Romans 12 tells us that true worship requires us to give our whole selves to God. We strive to be worshipers – in spirit and in truth.

Evangelism

If we are going to win people for Christ, we must take the initiative to GO into the world, cast our nets out, and share the gospel.

Generosity

We give because God gave Himself for us. Therefore, our time, talent, and treasure all belong to Him and we use them all for kingdom purposes.
